最近，一项刊登于国际杂志eLife上的研究报告中，来自萨塞克斯大学的研究人员通过研究阐明了为何为何常见的EB病毒会诱发成年人和儿童患血液癌症，文章中研究者揭示了EB病毒控制参与癌症发生过程中的两个基因开启和关闭的分子机制。

首先研究人员开始着手去确定EB病毒如何对MYC和BCL2L11这两个基因进行控制，当基因MYC被改变或在高水平下被开启时就会诱发癌症产生，而正常情况下，基因BCL2L11则能够诱发细胞死亡从而抑制癌症发生，但通过EB病毒会关闭该基因的表达。得益于慈善机构Bloodwise的资助，研究者们才能够得到如此重大的研究发现，研究者指出，EB病毒能够通过拦截距离基因较远的增强子DNA区域序列来控制MYC和BCL2L11基因的表达，这些增强子序列或许就扮演着控制中心的角色，其能够通过循环干预延伸的DNA序列来在较远距离对这两种基因进行控制。

EB病毒能够通过增加特定增强子和基因的往来来开启MYC基因的表达，研究者认为这或许能够帮助解释EB病毒如何诱发伯基特淋巴瘤患者机体中MYC基因的改变。同时研究者还发现了能够控制BCL2L11基因表达的新型增强子，EB病毒能够阻断这些控制中心同基因的接触，而这种阻断效应或许能够利用特殊药物来逆转。Michelle West教授指出，这对于理解EB病毒引发血液癌症的分子机制或许至关重要。

后期研究中研究者希望能够通过研究揭示EB病毒如何控制和淋巴瘤相关的基因的表达，这或许能够帮助研究者发现病毒驱动淋巴瘤发生的原因，当然，也为鉴别出新型路径来靶向作用EB病毒感染的癌细胞提供了新的线索。Alasdair Rankin教授说道，很多年以来我们一直知道EB病毒会引发多种类型的淋巴瘤，但我们并不清楚其中所涉及的分子机制，本文研究发现或许就帮我们阐明了EB病毒通过控制引发癌症基因的行为来驱动血液癌症发生分子机制。

通过对促进淋巴瘤细胞生长繁殖的相互遗传作用进行图谱绘制或许就能够帮助研究者开发出新型疗法来靶向作用淋巴瘤，当然这对于后期深入探索治疗其它疾病药物是否能够有效治疗多种类型的淋巴瘤或许也具有一定的研究意义。
