与测试过程的其他相比，分析前阶段标准化程度较低，所以更容易出现错误。为了提供指导方针和建议，EFLM工作组- pre在整个欧洲医学实验室发布了一项调查，以收集关于当地分析前实践的信息。这是两篇相关文章的第一部分，涵盖了除溶血、黄疸和血脂(HIL)之外的所有监测分析前质量的实践。

研究人员向难民专员办事处成员国分发了一项在线调查，其中包括39个问题，涉及很多的分析前问题。调查包括关于实验室是否愿意从事分析前问题的问题。

总共收到37个国家的1405份有效答复。1265(94%)应答者声明监视分析前错误。对这些资料的评估、文件编制和进一步使用在答复国与部分国家之间差别很大。许多响应者对分析前在线平台感兴趣，其中包含分析前阶段各方面的信息(N = 1177;(87%)，在分析前变量的测量和评估指南中(N = 1235;(92%)，以及分析前电子学习项目或网络研讨会(N = 1125;84%)。对分析前EQA项目感兴趣或已经参与其中的应答者较少(N = 951;71%)。

研究表明，虽然欧洲各实验室在分析前阶段监测方面存在着很大的异质性，但对分析前问题的兴趣很高。大多数与会者对有关分析前变数和学习活动的新准则表示有兴趣。这一重要数据将用于就最关键的问题提出建议。
