与参与者抑郁症状不稳定/无症状相比，中风风险稳定度高(调整后的危险比为2.14,95% CI 1.69-2.71)或者缓解中风风险(调整后的危险比为1.66,95% CI 1.22到2.26)。稳定高抑郁症状预测中风在所有子组。缓解抑郁症状预测女性中风风险增加(调整后的危险比为1.86,95% CI 1.30到2.66)，非西班牙裔白人(调整后的危险比为1.66,95%可信区间1.18到2.33)和略相关西班牙裔(调整后的危险比为2.36,95% CI 0.98到5.67)中风风险增加。

在这个群组,居高不下的抑郁症状与中风风险增加有关。
