印度降低脑肿瘤放射疗法副作用的研究取得成果

据报道,该团队对治疗脑肿瘤采用的较新的辐射技术的优点进行了为期11年的研究工作,一家著名的国际期刊在15日发表了该研究成果。美国医学会(AMA)下属的JAMA肿瘤学杂志称赞其为“罕见且值得称赞的随机试验”。

据报道,由神经辐射专家拉卡什?杰拉利(RakeshJalali)博士领导的塔塔纪念医院的医生表示,与常规方法相比,立体放射疗法可以更好地保留某些智商和激素功能。

杰拉利博士说:“我们的研究现在可以作为测试其他高精度辐射技术(如质子治疗)的模板,质子疗法技术很快将被引入到印度。”

据报道,包括大脑在内的中枢神经系统肿瘤占所有恶性肿瘤的约2%。在印度,预计有5万人患神经系统肿瘤,其中有2500名儿童患有脑肿瘤。

杰拉利博士表示,许多患者,特别是儿童,已被治愈,但他们可能有长期的残疾。从2001年开始该团队就研究这种副作用。大约有200名3到25岁年龄组患者参加了研究,并被分为两组:一组接受常规辐射,而另一组接受立体放射疗法。据报道,这些患者患有良性或低级别的脑肿瘤,并于2001至2011年期间在塔塔纪念医院在接受治疗。
