统计力学模型对配体密度、形态和多价支架的大小的相关性进行了合理的解释，以抑制病毒细胞的结合。最优化的LPGSA能够在半抑菌浓度的低纳米粒子浓度范围内，抑制病毒感染，同时还显示了针对两种既往感染的禽流感病毒株有抗病毒活性，即A/Mallard/439/2004 (H3N2) 和A/turkey/Italy/472/1999 (H7N1)。

抑制剂的体内应用，证实了线性多价支架在预防感染方面，具有更高的抑制潜能。优化的LPGSA并没有任何急性毒性的表现，而且比神经氨酸苷酶抑制剂奥司他韦的体内作用更强。LPGSA与奥司他韦的联合应用，对于病毒具有协同抑制作用，并成功地在小鼠体内试验中抑制了流感病毒的感染。
