本指南旨在提高重度抑郁障碍(MDD)和持续性抑郁障碍(PDD)儿童和青少年的护理质量和临床效果。目的如下:(1)总结以经验为基础的指导关于儿童和青少年重度抑郁症和重度抑郁症的心理和精神药理学治疗;(2)总结以专家为基础的指导，将这些障碍的评估作为治疗的一个组成部分，并在临床实践中实施基于经验的治疗。与问题的严重程度不成比例的是，在儿童和青少年抑郁症的病因、评估和治疗方面，严格的经验支持的质量和数量都存在显著的局限性。在儿童和青少年长期严重短缺的情况下。作为训练有素的行为健康专家，展示安全有效地治疗MDD和PDD的方便、高效、成本效益和用户友好的提供机制是一项关键的研究需要。其他研究重点包括抑郁症治疗的排序和比较有效性、治疗介体和调节剂的描述、治疗无效者和障碍复发/复发的有效方法、使用SSRI的长期影响和自杀风险程度，以及新的药理或介入治疗的发现。
