最近,有研究人员开发了一个单细胞的试验来对人类前列腺组织进行定量。让人惊讶的是,中心体的丢失在人类癌症中尚未阐释,但是却与PCa的恶化相关。研究人员通过化学或者遗传的方法在非肿瘤前列腺上皮细胞中诱导了中心体的丢失,随之产生有丝分裂错误,产生非整倍和多核细胞。另外,瞬时或者慢性中心体丢失能够促使前列腺上皮细胞转化,从而产生高度增殖和不良分化的恶性肿瘤。

最后,研究人员指出,他们的发现表明了中心体的丢失能够产生细胞学风险,并在前列腺上皮细胞中产生致瘤的可能。
