加拿大华裔女医生廖满嫦出任无国界医生国际组织主席

中新网10月12日电 据加拿大《星岛日报》报道，人道医护工作誉满全球的无国界医生国际组织，出现第二位加拿大人出任主席。魁北克省土生土长的华裔女医生廖满嫦，月初抵达瑞士日内瓦走马上任主席之职。

廖满嫦医生(Dr. Joanne Liu)的父母于1951年从中国广东台山移民加国，并在魁省魁北克城经营餐馆。廖满嫦在魁省出生，早年在麦基尔大学(McGill University)医学院接受训练，其后到纽约大学医学院(New York University)担任儿童急症科研究员，并在麦基尔大学获卫生领导人员国际硕士学位。她亦是蒙特利尔大学副教授。

廖满嫦医生于今年6月无国界医生国际会员大会上，当选无国界医生(国际)主席，并于本月1日正式上任，接替卸任主席的卡云勒卡亚医生(Dr. Unni Karunakara)。上任无国界医生国际主席之前，廖满嫦在蒙特利尔Sainte-Justine医院任儿童急症医生。

廖医生表示，无国界医生目前面对很多挑战。组织要探索如何能在不断改变的局势中，为受困于冲突中的人民，如阿富汗、索马里、叙利亚等地居民，提供救命的医疗护理？如何能够确保病人和救援人员的安全？无国界医生必须以病人的需要为中心，应对这些挑战。

无国界医生秘书长奥伯赖(Jerome Oberreit)指出，廖医生有丰富的无国界医生工作经验、曾直接参与医疗工作、亦管理前线救援项目，以及她将病人放于人道工作首位的热诚，这将为她引领无国界医生未来数年的工作奠定坚实的基础。廖满嫦医生于1996年已加入无国界医生，曾到毛里塔尼亚(Mauritania)为马里(Mali)难民工作。其后，她前往印度尼西亚为海啸后的救援工作提供支持，到海地协助受地震和霍乱疫情影响的人民，并赴肯尼亚(Kenya)为索马里(Somalia)难民工作。她也曾协助制定刚果共和国(The Republic of Congo)首个针对性暴力幸存者的全面医疗护理项目。此外，她亦曾踏足过多个冲突地区工作。

廖医生在1999年至2002年，任无国界医生在巴黎办事处项目经理。于2004年至2009年期间，出任无国界医生(加拿大)主席。她协助设立远程医疗项目，将组织在150个偏远地区工作的医生，与全球逾300名医疗专家连系起来。廖医生2013年获得加拿大皇家内外科医学院(Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada)蒂斯代尔人道奖殊荣(Teasdale-Corti Humanitarian Award)。
