实验将22只雌性Wistar大鼠分为两组:对照组和牙周炎组。评估牙周组织的牙龈出血指数(GBI),牙齿松动度,牙龈丙二醛(MDA)含量,髓过氧化物酶(MPO)活性,牙周探诊深度(PPD),牙槽骨吸收(ABL),与肾小体相关的组织形态学测量,肾脏的组织病理学(评估刷状缘);以及血液和尿液生物标志物。最后,实验分别通过谷胱甘肽(GSH)和MDA评估肾脏氧化应激。

关于肾组织形态学测定,评估的所有参数都观察到显着差异。在过碘酸-雪夫(PAS)染色中,与对照组相比,牙周炎组中肾小管刷状缘破坏。牙周炎组中,呈现较高的MDA和较低的GSH浓度,与对照组有显着差异。

由此,实验得出诱导性牙周炎引起肾组织的组织形态学变化以及肾小管刷状缘的破坏,与肾脏氧化应激增加相关。然而,这些改变不足以引起肾功能指标的变化。
