延胡索是主产于中国浙江和江苏等地的一味传统中药材，也是一味比较优良的止痛药。

中科院大连化学物理研究所与美国加州大学欧文分校研究人员合作，新发现了延胡索中的镇痛活性成分去氢紫堇球碱（DHCB）。动物实验显示，它对慢性疼痛可能有很好疗效，并且没有耐药性。

据中方研究负责人、大连化学物理研究所研究员梁鑫淼介绍，在疼痛治疗中，成瘾性和耐药性等副作用很大程度上限制了吗啡等止痛药的临床使用。DHCB的镇痛方式与阿片类镇痛药物有很大不同，它不是通过刺激阿片受体来起作用，而是通过对多巴胺D2受体的拮抗起作用，因而为镇痛治疗提供了另一种可能。

梁鑫淼表示，下一步他们将对DHCB进行毒理学测试，这个天然成分在延胡索中虽已被人类服用了上千年，但不能排除其潜在毒性。以DHCB为基础开发止痛药目前为时尚早，“不过DHCB作为一个天然成分，通过中药的摄入实践其实已超过千年，相对于其他未经人体实践的活性化合物来说，成功的概率要大得多”。
