之前公布的荟萃分析和类风湿关节炎，系统性红斑狼疮，强直性脊柱炎，痛风以及牛皮癣显示在一般人群中卒中的风险过剩，比值比（OR）的范围从1.51（95％置信区间：1.39-1.62）到2.13（1.53-2.98）。在类风湿关节炎[缺血性：OR，1.64（1.32-2.05）;出血性：OR，1.68（1.11-2.53）]和系统性红斑狼疮[缺血性：OR，2.11（1.66-2.67）;出血性：OR，1.82（1.07-3.09）]卒中亚型的新的荟萃分析显示出在一般人群中卒中的风险过剩。风湿性疾病中卒中的风险在那些年龄<50岁最高中[OR，1.79（1.46-2.20）]，并与随着年龄增加相对减少[>65岁：OR，1.14（0.94-1.38）;差异P<0.007]。炎性关节病比非炎症性疾病（OR，1.3，1.2-1.3）有更高的卒中的风险。对于调整的风险因素或治疗的OR是不可能的。

大多数风湿性疾病患者比一般人群的卒中的风险都高，特别是<50岁的人群。相对于一般人群，类风湿关节炎和系统性红斑狼疮使得缺血性和出血性中风的风险增加60％到100％。
