重复经颅磁刺激具有非亲侵入性、无痛性特点，是目前治疗各种神经精神障碍患者很有潜力的治疗方法之一。新乡医学院第二附属医院的张迎黎及其同事于《中国神经再生研究（英文版）》杂志2013年10月28期杂志发表的一项meta分析“Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for hallucination in schizophrenia spectrum disorders”，从193项研究中筛查出17个随机对照研究，共398名精神分裂症谱系障碍幻听的患者接受重复经颅磁刺激治疗，评价了重复经颅磁刺激治疗精神分裂症谱系障碍患者幻听症状的安全性和耐受性。

研究显示重复经颅磁刺激治疗精神分裂症谱系障碍的幻听症状安全有效，对认知功能没有显著的影响。诸多量化资料显示，重复经颅磁刺激治疗不会对患者产生严重的不良反应，偶尔会出现一过性的轻度头痛、面部肌肉抽动等症状。
