在这项研究中，研究人员将一个窗口植入小鼠子宫，以可视化胚胎发育。可视化过程从胚胎发育的第9.5天开始，到小鼠出生。这种可拆卸的腹腔内窗口允许操纵和高分辨率成像。

胚胎发育是一个复杂的过程，以前认为是无法直接观察到的。

在这项研究中，研究人员将一个窗口植入小鼠子宫，以可视化胚胎发育。可视化过程从胚胎发育的第9.5天开始，到小鼠出生。这种可拆卸的腹腔内窗口允许操纵和高分辨率成像。

在活的小鼠胚胎中，研究人员观察到瞬时的神经递质，神经嵴细胞（NCC）派生的脑部血管周围细胞的早期血管化，在视网膜中的自噬，病毒基因的传递，以及通过胎盘的化学扩散。

研究人员将成像窗口与子宫内电穿孔相结合，标记和跟踪胚胎内的细胞分裂和运动，并观察到小鼠NCC衍生细胞的集群在种间嵌合体中扩大，而相邻的人类供体NCC衍生细胞缩小。

该技术可与各种组织操作和显微镜方法相结合，以前所未有的时空分辨率研究发育过程。
