研究者进行了一项研究，探究总鱼摄入量、不同类型鱼的摄入量、ω-3多不饱和脂肪酸（PUFA）的摄入，三者与心房颤动（AF）发生率之间的关系。

研究数据显示，校正房颤相关的其他混杂因素后，没有发现总鱼、多脂鱼（鲱鱼/鲭鱼和鲑鱼/白鱼）和长链ω-3 PUFA与房颤的发生有关。不过摄入更高的少脂鱼（鳕鱼/绿鳕 /鱼手指）可降低房颤风险；每周吃三份少脂鱼与不吃的相比，RR=0.79 (95% CI, 0.65-0.95)。

研究结果表明，多脂鱼或ω-3 PUFA的摄入与房颤发生率无关。不过进食少脂鱼可降低AF发生风险，还需要未来的更多的研究。
