该随机、双盲、对照1期试验中，研究者对158名健康的欧洲和非洲成年人接种了不同剂量的rVSV-ZEBOV疫苗，剂量为30万-5000万个噬菌斑形成单位（PFU）或安慰剂，以评估该疫苗的安全性、副作用和免疫原性。

研究期间没有疫苗相关严重不良事件的报告。轻中度早发型反应原性很常见，也很短暂，通常持续1天。有30%的疫苗接种者会出现发热，130名接种≥300万PFU的人群中，有123名在接种后3天内检测到疫苗病毒血症（95%）；在唾液或尿液中没有检测到 rVSV。疫苗注射后第二周，日内瓦的51名参与者中有11人出现了关节炎（22%），疼痛中位数持续8天（4-87天）；德国汉堡和肯尼亚基利菲的60名参与者中发生了2例自限性疾病（3%）。1名参与者的关节液和2名皮肤囊泡液中发现了病毒，表明免疫后第二周外周病毒的复制。所有受试者的ZEBOV糖蛋白特异性抗体反应阳性，不过接种剂量更高的人群其中和抗体效价也会更高。所有参与者的糖蛋白结合抗体滴度持续180天。

研究结果表明，注射单剂量rVSV-ZEBOV疫苗后反应原性常见，疫苗的安全性和有效性还需要未来进一步的评估。
