此项巢式病例对照研究共纳入6443例AD、2302例VD和9984例无痴呆患者，并估算了上述患者的缺血性卒中、出血性卒中或TIA发病率。对抗精神病药物进行分层之后，计算AD和VD患者出现上述转归的比值比。

结果显示，随访期间共确认281例缺血性卒中、139例出血性卒中和379例TIA。AD、VD和无痴呆患者的缺血性卒中发病率分别为4.7、12.8和5.1/1000人年。与无痴呆患者相比，接受非典型抗精神病药物治疗的AD患者出现TIA的比值比为4.5。
