此项研究共纳入500例置入心脏再同步治疗装置的患者，其中置入仅起搏装置(CRT-P)和CRT-D的患者分别为354和146例。随访时间至少为2年，平均随访29个月。主要终点为全因死亡率。

结果显示，共记录116例(23.2%)死亡，CRT-P和CRT-D组分别为88和28例。第1年时CRT-D具有占优趋势，但第2年时趋势减弱，并在随访结束时失去统计学显著性。如果认为患者对CRT无应答，则内部心律转复除颤器不具有生存获益。在伴有缺血性心肌病的CRT-P组患者中，有27%具有潜在置入内部心律转复除颤器行一级预防的指征。对基线功能进行校正之后，两组患者之间无转归差异。
