研究者Furtado博士表示,由于遗传程序使得成心肌细胞变成了独特的细胞,其可以帮助开发新型细胞疗法来治疗心力衰竭和先天性心脏病;心脏疾病仍然是人类社会引发死亡的一大元凶,截至目前并没有有效治疗心脏疾病的疗法,本文中研究者的研究就为理解心脏中多种类型的细胞改善心力衰竭提供了新的思路。

成纤维细胞被认为可以扮演一种生物胶的作用,其可以促进机体不同部位有效工作,文章中研究者利用尖端的技术研究发现,心肌成纤维细胞中含有名为转录因子的特殊基因,其可以帮助区分哪些心肌成纤维细胞可以变成心脏细胞,这些细胞或许就是进行心脏移植的最佳细胞,因为其仅仅是具有多种特性的成纤维细胞。

研究者表示,心肌成纤维细胞非常特殊,其它细胞并不会知道它们来自于哪里,而心肌成纤维细胞却会记得其是心脏细胞,其可以有效控制引发心脏衰竭的机体改变;这项研究中研究者的终极目的就是通过修饰这些成纤维细胞来使其有效改善受损心脏的功能。

将来研究者将会利用成纤维细胞继续深入研究心脏细胞的功能,该研究对于开发新型有效的疗法来改善患者的心脏病带来了新的研究依据和希望。
