Neuropsychology:通过画笔也可预测神经退行性疾病的发生?

在美国,每年有数百万人遭受帕金森和阿尔茨海默病等神经退行性疾病的影响。近日,来自利物普大学和梅努斯大学的一项新的研究发现,通过画笔可早期识别画家中这些疾病的发生,该研究已发表于Neuropsychology。研究人员分析了7名著名画家的2092幅画。其中两名画家患有帕金森,两名患有阿尔茨海默氏病,其余三名画家则经历了一个正常的老化过程,未有神经退行性疾病的病史记录。运用非传统数学的模式——“分形”

运用非传统数学的模式——“分形”来分析艺术家的笔触。分形是一种极其复杂的模式,其定义为"一个粗糙或零碎的几何形状,可以分成数个部分,且每一部分都(至少近似地)是整体缩小后的形状",即具有自相似的性质。

分形分析曾被用来确立艺术作品的真实性。既往研究曾利用分形分析确定了Jackson Pollock的23幅画,准确率为100%。

这说明艺术家在作画时使用了独特的分形行为,因而计算机能够准确地检测出著名画家的图案特征。

该研究团队既往研究中检测了不同画家在不同的流派中的作品,结果发现他们的笔触的分形图案仍然相似。

研究人员检查了艺术家独特的分形随着时间的推移而变化的情况,以探究这些画家是否为正常老化或为神经退行性疾病典型的认知退化。

分析显示不同的画家其分形维数出现明显的图案变化。而这些变化在神经功能恶化和正常老化的画家间存在明显的分界。

研究人员希望该研究结果可为日后研究神经退行性疾病开辟了新的途径。
