研究者E. Aubrey Thompson教授表示,这些研究成果或许就可以为病人、医生及研究团体提供准确的基因组测序数据,那么未来通过基因组数据来确定病人的治疗策略就变得非常有可能了。研究人员表示,基于测序的分析结果也可以在实验室之间进行研究对比,这就意味着针对病人的样本的研究结果的准确性将是世界级的。

近年来RNA测序技术的应用范围越来越广,从检测新生儿遗传缺陷到老年人的疾病障碍都可以进行RNA测序来分析,很多研究机构也都开发出了新型的分析工具来解释他们的测序数据。目前每一个研究机构(即论文中的每个研究机构)都得到了超过10亿个核苷酸测序数据,这些数据随后会被FDA和一些学术专家来进行分析论证。

与此同时研究者们还检测了当前的技术及30个RNA测序实验室的主要生化方法,研究人员发现RNA可以被精确地进行提取并且可以对严重退化的遗传样本进行分析,比如保存了多年的机体组织样本等。

最后研究者Thompson表示,进行RNA测序的不同实验室产生的测序数据之间必须进行协定,这样才能保证RNA测序的数据都可以使用,以便使得其它的实验室可以进行可靠性验证和实验结果复制。
