评价在高龋风险成年人群中长期使用(1年)低剂量(2.5g / die)木糖醇口香糖的防龋作用。

材料和方法:在这个随机临床试验中,179名高龋风险成年人被分配到两个实验组,木糖醇和多元醇。在66名木糖醇和64名多元醇受试者中, 2年后重新评估龋齿状态,变形链球菌(MS)和菌斑pH。使用非参数Mann-Whitney U检验评估结果(初期,中度和广泛龋损的龋净增量和龋病史)。

结果:木糖醇组的总龋增加量为1.25±1.26,多元醇组为1.80±2.33(p = 0.01)。用木糖醇口香糖治疗的受试者牙齿水平为23%,风险率相对较低,用多元醇处理的需要治疗55颗牙齿。在木糖醇组的实验期间,在pH 5.7的曲线下面积在统计学上显着较低(p = 0.02)。在木糖醇组中唾液MS浓度降低(p <0.01)。

结论:使用低剂量木糖醇口香糖的受试者显示初期和广泛龋损的增量显著较低,并且总的龋病史增量较低。
