宫颈腺癌是一组异质性肿瘤，具有不同的形态，病因，分子驱动因素和预后，约占所有宫颈癌的25％。与宫颈鳞状细胞癌不同，腺癌不是由高危人乳头瘤病毒（HPV）感染引起的，因此，HPV疫苗不一定能预防腺癌。

本研究的目的提供宫颈腺癌亚型的综述，并在适当时在临床护理的背景下讨论前驱病变，病因，分子遗传学和辅助研究。并还将提供一些历史观点。本研究数据来源包括已发表的同行评审文献和资深作者的个人经历。

研究表明，宫颈腺癌是一种组织学上多样化的肿瘤，有各种原因和分子驱动因素，并非与HPV感染有关。区分它们对治疗和预后以及预防策略具有重要意义。
