高灵敏度种属特异性血吸虫CAA试纸条方法的应用可以实现对单个虫活性感染（最终灵敏度）的检测，本研究讨论了其在混合样本检测中的有效性。除了能够降低相关的成本之外，混合样本检测可以为大尺度制图、监测和监控提供有价值的数据。

基于实验室的CAA试纸条检测利用发光的定量转换磷(UCP)报告粒子和快速容易操作的横向流(低频)分析格式。这个检测所包括一个样品制备步骤对尿液样本浓度不受限，能够达到最大（单个虫检测）100%的特异性的灵敏度。这有助于对多个样本多样本进行检测，而将敏感性和特异性降低到最小。该检测确定了混合样本中个体的平均CAA水平，从而显示了总体血吸虫负担和患病率。当需要在个体水平上监测时，需根据预期的流行程度或者未知的情况，对较小的混合样本的平均CAA进行分析；对于CAA阴性的混合样本不需要再进行单独的检测，从而可以减少检测次数。

直接的混合样本策略表明，在亚群体水平上，CAA试纸检测是一种有效的分析方法，可用于一般制图、热点识别、分层感染水平的确定以及对大规模群体服药（MDA）的精确监测。在个体水平上，它可以减少检测数量，即在低流行情况下，混合样本的规模可以随着发病率的减少而增加。

在亚群体水平上，在尿液混合样本中测定的平均CAA浓度是一种衡量血吸虫负担的适当措施。采用不同的CAA检测试纸并且不影响测试的敏感性和特异性，因此，这种大规模测试的混合策略是可行的。它能够进行低成本的分层检测和在亚群体水平监测疾病负担，理论上可以根据大规模监测所产生的实用数据，在从传播阻断到消除的过渡中提升MDA项目的性能和改善战略规划。
