体外细胞实验表明，水凝胶可有效促进大鼠间充质干细胞（rMSCs）增殖，诱导其分化为成釉细胞。成骨标志物基因RNA表达的上调，如BMP-2，骨桥蛋白（OPN），骨钙蛋白（OCN）和runt相关转录因子2（Runx2）表明支架可以在RNA水平加速rMSCs分化。大鼠颅骨缺损模型的进一步研究表明，由于仿生肽和磷酸丝氨酸的潜在协同作用，多功能支架表现出优异的修复能力。

组织化学/免疫组化染色结果显示，碱性磷酸酶（ALP）和OCN的表达显著上调，表明水凝胶在整个修复过程中可加速成骨细胞前体的成熟，是一种很有前途的骨修复生物活性支架。
