澳大利亚每年大约有1000人被诊断为AML，与患者的年龄相关，死亡率很高，只有30%的人能长期存活。

堪培拉血液学专家、ANU高级讲师James D ' rozario博士说，治疗AML的标准方法在过去30年里没有改变。

D'Rozario博士说："我们迫切需要新的药物，如CX-5461，改善患这种疾病的患者的预后，这类新药的作用机制更复杂。

JCSMR癌症生物学和治疗中心的主任Ross Hannan教授说，基于有希望的临床前研究结果，澳大利亚刚刚完成了血癌患者的1期临床试验。结果预计将于今年晚些时候公布。

"加拿大正在进行1/2期临床试验，用于实体瘤患者的治疗，"汉南教授说。
