过去的25年里环境空气污染成为新的全球疾病主导因素。

环境空气污染现已成为新的全球致病因素，研究人员近日探讨了1990至2015年间，在全球不同区域和国家间，因空气污染导致疾病和死亡的变化趋势。

研究通过估计PM2.5和臭氧水平与危险因素之间的关系得出相应结论，研究涉及的危险因素包括缺血性心脏病，脑血管疾病，慢性阻塞性肺疾病，肺癌，下呼吸道感染等。

研究表明，2015年，PM2.5水平是排名第五的致死风险因素，导致了420万死亡(95% UI 370万-480万) 以及1亿3百万劳力丧失修正寿命年(DALYs)，占全球总死亡数的7.6%以及全球DALYs的4.2%；死亡人口中有59%发生在东南亚；因PM2.5导致的死亡人数由1990年的350万上涨至2015年的420万。2015年臭氧导致的慢性阻塞性肺病导致了全球死亡人数增加25.4万以及410万DALYs损失。

研究表明，过去的25年里，由于人口老龄化，非传染性疾病的变化，以及低收入和中等收入国家空气污染的增加，环境空气污染成为新的全球疾病主导因素。
