近年来，全基因组关联分析研究（Genome Wide Association Study，GWAS）报道了数十个精神分裂症的易感基因。ZNF804A是欧洲人群中首个利用GWAS方法发现与精神分裂症显着相关的基因。

近年来，全基因组关联分析研究（Genome Wide Association Study，GWAS）报道了数十个精神分裂症的易感基因。ZNF804A是欧洲人群中首个利用GWAS方法发现与精神分裂症显着相关的基因。从2011年起，中国科学院昆明动物研究所研究员李明针对ZNF804A基因开展了一系列研究，相关结果陆续发表在American Journal of Psychiatry、Schizophrenia Research、World Journal of Biological Psychiatry、American Journal of Medical Genetics Part B： Neuropsychiatric Genetics 和PLOS ONE 等杂志上。




随着对ZNF804A基因的功能及其在精神分裂症中的作用机制认识的逐渐增多，该易感基因受到了领域内越来越多学者的关注。为系统理解ZNF804A影响精神分裂症发生的分子机制，李明及其课题组成员（昆明动物所博士常宏和肖潇）对近年来针对ZNF804A基因的遗传学研究、转录组学研究、脑影像学研究、认知功能研究及神经分子生物学研究进行系统的整理和分析，并首次提出ZNF804A从遗传学水平到神经生物学水平影响精神分裂症发生的分子机制假说。此外，他们在文中也深入探讨了ZNF804A在认知生物学方面对精神分裂症“中间表型”的影响，并强调了该基因在欧亚大陆人群间的遗传易感异质性的问题。该综述性文章近期发表在《分子精神病学》（Molecular Psychiatry）杂志上。

该工作得到了中科院率先行动“百人计划”的资助。
