研究者定量复制了Lehann等的研究，采用了来自公共数据库中的Affymetrix CEL。在03/00 至03/10期间，研究者确定了130名TNBC基因表达微序列。所有的患者都接受新辅助化疗，治疗方案为序贯紫杉烷和基于蒽环类药物的方案，并且这些患者都具有可供评价的病理肿瘤应答（pCR）数据。在本研究中，中位随访时间是68.1月（5.1-147.5）。研究者采用Lehmann基因标记对TNBC样本进行分类，然后应用Fisher精确检验来确定TNBC和pCR状态之间的联系。为了评估TNBC亚型对预测pCR状态的独立作用，研究者根据其数据建立了一个Logistic回归模型，并将年龄、临床分期、治疗方案和核级作为可能的解释因素。同时，研究者也比较了PAM50内在亚型和RCB指数。

研究结果指出BL1亚型pCR率最高（52%）；BL2和LAR的pCR率最低，分别为0%和10%。TNBC亚型和pCR状态显著相关（P=0.044）。似然比检验提示TNBC亚型是pCR状态的独立预测因素。与PAM50内在亚型相比，Lehmann亚型分类能更好的预测pCR状态（基底细胞样vs非基底细胞样）。

本研究结果指出，将TNBC分成7个亚型能预测pCR率。这种基于7个亚型的分类是一种针对TNBC患者的新的个体化的分类系统，可帮助进行治疗策略的制定。但是我们仍需要设计前瞻性的研究来证实与pCR相关的TNBC的7个亚型是否能用于预测三阴性乳腺癌患者的长期预后情况。
