最近,来自澳大利亚查尔斯帕金斯中心和生命与环境科学学院的研究人员发现,在果蝇中,肠道微生物群会改变宿主对于微生物和营养的偏好性。研究人员通过实验,改变了果蝇的肠道微生物群,并测试了其行为模式和化学感应能力。研究人员发现,果蝇对微生物的偏好性是受宿主的微生物群影响的。

正常情况下,果蝇对于乳酸杆菌具有一定的偏好性。这种行为在成年的无菌果蝇以及果蝇幼虫中也存在。相反的,果蝇对于醋酸杆菌的偏好性是由于早年生活的暴露引起的,并且可以取代内在的偏好性。这种对于微生物偏好性的行为很大程度上是嗅觉导向的,对于宿主的觅食行为有着深远的影响,使得果蝇在获取有益微生物和平衡食物营养物质之间不断取得平衡。

因此,研究人员的工作表明,动物体内的微生物群能够通过改变宿主的化学感应能力来改变宿主健康相关的行为模式。为之后研究微生物群,宿主感觉系统和行为之间的关系奠定了基础。
