随着年龄的增长,我们最小的血管萎缩死亡,导致血液流动减少,器官和组织的氧合受损。血管老化是导致一系列疾病的原因,如心脏和神经系统疾病、肌肉萎缩、伤口愈合不良和全身虚弱等。科学家已经知道,器官和组织的血流流失会导致毒素的积累和低氧水平。

根据哈佛医学院的研究人员领导的一项新研究,答案似乎是肯定的,至少在老鼠身上是这样的。这项研究发表于3月22日《细胞》杂志中,确认了血管衰老的关键细胞机制及其对肌肉健康的影响,并成功地逆转了动物衰老的过程。

这一发现指出了肌肉和血管之间正常串扰的一个小毛病,并保持了两个组织的健康。利用天然存在于体内的两种分子的合成前体,科学家们还设法逆转衰老小鼠的血管死亡和肌肉萎缩,从而提高他们在运动过程中的耐力。

研究小组说,这项成就为确定人类的相关治疗铺平了道路。“我们已经发现了一种通过提高身体中增加运动的生理反应自然发生的分子存在逆转血管老化,这种方法刺激血管生长,增强小鼠的耐力,为人类治疗血管老化所带来的疾病提供了新的治疗阶段。”

研究人员警告说,由于生物学上的重大差异,许多有希望的治疗方法在小鼠身上的效果并不相同。然而,实验的结果却足够戏剧性,促使研究小组在人类身上进行实验。安全性的临床试验已经在进行中。
