研究表明，HCV GT1和HCV GT3诱导的肝组织脂肪变性的主要差异是脂滴的大小，而不是脂滴的数量，不是脂滴的分布范围（HCV感染细胞，HCV未感染细胞）。

研究背景：脂肪变性是丙型肝炎病毒(HCV)感染的常见组织学特征。针对慢性丙型肝炎患者的队列研究发现HCV基因3型(HCV GT3)是流行的脂肪型基因型。此外，相比过表达核心蛋白的其他HCV基因型，过表达HCV GT3核心蛋白的Huh-7以更大的脂滴累积更多的甘油三酯。然而，体内细胞水平上，关于脂肪变性和丙肝病毒感染的关系知之甚少。

研究方法：本研究使用高度敏感的复合原位杂交方法和脂质染色法对肝脏活检组织切片细胞水平的HCV诱导的脂滴积累进行了研究。

研究结果：与先前的报告一致，独立与病毒载量，相比HCV GT1感染患者，HCV GT3感染患者肝组织脂肪变性分数更高。使用尼罗河红脂染色，研究观察到包含脂滴的细胞数量在HCV GT1和HCV GT3中是相似的。在HCV感染细胞，脂滴优先形成，与基因型无关；但是也在未感染HCV的肝细胞中发现了脂滴。
