在不同或偏远的地区开展工作，能使用数字病理学报告是一个主要优势，但目前没有方法通过数字显微镜验证临床诊断。本研究的目的是开发一种初步的站点质量保证(POUQA)工具，专门用于验证数字显微镜的诊断。

本研究的POUQA工具是基于苏木精-伊红、绿、蓝(RGB)值设计的。该工具使用了144个苏木精-伊红色、5×5厘米的贴片，上面随机叠加了一个字母，背景色的RGB值稍微浅一些，难度不同。我们在英国和瑞典2个病理科进行了3个阶段的初步评估。

研究总共进行了53次实验，共观察了7632张测试图像。结果表明，显示器、用户的视觉系统和环境均各自独立地影响性能。通过减少自然光和使用医用级显示器，该工具性能得到改善。

研究表明，使用POUQA工具进行数字显微镜检查对于保证患者安全的同时提供灵活的工作是至关重要的。颜色对比测试提供了一种标准的方法来比较诊断设置的数字显微镜。随着进一步的开发计划，颜色对比测试可以用来创建一个“验证登录”，用于诊断设置验证。
