Plasmatology is an international, open access, peer-reviewed journal, which considers manuscripts on all aspects of human blood plasma and its components, from basic and preclinical research to clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic applications. All aspects related to plasma donation are also covered by the journal. The main aim of the journal is to gather, in a single source, the most relevant scientific knowledge on human plasma as a fluid whose components circulate through the whole body acting on most vital organs. In this sense, to convey the richness of plasma as a component of the human body with relevance to health and disease through the overarching concept of a unifying, ubiquitous, communicative fluid, is the essence of Plasmatology. A wide range of article types are welcomed by the journal, including original research, methodologies, case reports, reviews, perspectives, editorials and commentaries.

The journal welcomes unsolicited article proposals.

From March 2021 onwards all of the Article Processing Charges (APCs) associated with submitted and accepted papers to Plasmatology to be waived under an educational grant from Grifols.
