Life Science Alliance is a global, open-access, editorially independent, and peer-reviewed journal founded by an alliance of EMBO Press, Rockefeller University Press, and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press. Life Science Alliance is committed to rapid, fair, and transparent publication of valuable research from across all areas in the life sciences.

Papers published in Life Science Alliance meet high scientific and editorial standards established by the alliance partners. Life Science Alliance welcomes new results, community resources such as datasets, screens, and new methods as well as important confirmatory, negative, and refuting data. Life Science Alliance articles are published continuously and added to the current open issue. Issues are closed every month, resulting in twelve issues per year.

Efficient submission: Manuscripts can be submitted to Life Science Alliance directly or by seamless transfer without reformatting from nine partner journals: The EMBO Journal, EMBO reports, Molecular Systems Biology, EMBO Molecular Medicine, Journal of Cell Biology, Journal of Experimental Medicine, Journal of General Physiology, Genes & Development, and Genome Research.

Trustworthy, fair, and transparent review: Authors of papers invited to transfer their manuscript to Life Science Alliance with or without referee reports are given a commitment for either publication, when necessary subject to revision, or peer review. Timely editorial decisions are made through collaborative consultation between the editorial team and leading academic scientists. No more than one round of experimental revision will be requested. Quick publication: Fast-track online production allows for publication approximately 10 days after acceptance. Authors of papers invited to transfer their manuscript to Life Science Alliance with or without referee reports are given a commitment for either publication, when necessary subject to revision, or peer review. The journal will ask for no more than one round of factually necessary experimental revision.

Responsive to the community: Life Science Alliance is open access. To increase the reproducibility of results and to stimulate data sharing, Life Science Alliance encourages authors to publish source data alongside each figure. The publication fee is $3500 USD ($3750 for initial submissions after December 31, 2022). Authors unable to pay the full fee will not be excluded.
