研究发现，升主动脉扩张患者中男性比例较高(P = 0.003)，高血压发生率较高(P = 0.036)，升主动脉直径增大(P < 0.001)。与对照组相比，AAD患者的SUA升高(P = 0.002)，接受者操作特性曲线显示，SUA对曲线下面积(AUC)为0.821 (95% CI 0.675‐0.966)的BD患者AAD风险具有较高的预测价值。Pearson的分析还揭示，在BD患者中，SUA与升主动脉直径呈正相关。但AAD患者与对照组CRP (P = 0.219)、ESR (P = 0.320)无差异，总BD患者CRP (R = - 0.150, P = 0.377)、ESR (R = 0.067, P = 0.692)与升主动脉直径无相关性。进一步的多因素logistic回归表明SUA是预测BD患者AAD风险的独立因素(P = 0.031)。

研究表明，血清尿酸可作为BD患者AAD风险和严重程度增加的独立标志物。
