近日，刊登在国际杂志Neurology上的一篇研究报告中，来自约翰霍普金斯大学的研究人员通过研究发现，摄入高剂量的维生素D3或许对多发性硬化症患者是安全的，而且可以帮助调节机体中过度活化的免疫反应。

研究人员Peter Calabresi博士指出，这些研究结果让我们非常激动，维生素D是一种治疗多发性硬化症的非常廉价、安全且有效的疗法，而我们也需要开展更多的研究来在大量人群中证实，同时也可以帮助我们理解这些效应发生的机制。血液中低水平的维生素D和个体患多发性硬化症的风险增加直接相关，而多发性硬化症患者如果机体维生素D水平较低就很有可能患上残疾或者多种疾病。

这项研究中，研究人员对40名多发性硬化症复发的患者进行研究，这些患者每天摄入10400国际单位或800国际单位的维生素D3补充物，持续摄入6个月时间，这项研究中并不包括严重维生素D缺失的患者；维生素D3当前的推荐剂量为600国际单位，研究人员在研究开始、三个月和六个月时对患者血液中的维生素D水平进行测定，并且对患者机体免疫系统T细胞的反应进行测定。

虽然研究人员仍然可以确定多发性硬化症患者机体维生素D的最优水平，但40至60 ng/ml的建议范围仍然被认为是一个标准，摄入高剂量维生素D的参与者在目标制定后或许就可以达到这个水平，而低剂量摄入者或许并不会达到这个目标。Calabresi博士表示，摄入高剂量维生素D的个体机体中和多发性硬化症严重性相关的炎性T细胞的比例就会下降，尤其是IL-17+CD4+和CD161+CD4+细胞，当机体血液中维生素D的水平超过基线水平高于18ng/ml时，维生素D水平每增加5ng/ml就会降低血液中1%的IL-17+CD4+的细胞含量，而低剂量维生素D的患者则在T细胞的水平上并不会出现太大改变。

最后研究人员希望这些炎性T细胞反应的改变可以转化成为患者多发性硬化症症状的减轻，而当前其它临床试验也正在进行大量研究来证实是否摄入维生素D可以帮助改善多发性硬化症患者的疾病情况。
