由于控制措施的实施存在困难，在医疗资源有限的国家中，土源性线虫感染（STH）仍然是一个值得关注的健康问题。例如，在尼日利亚，尽管有一些基于社区和省份的报告，但仍然缺乏关于疾病流行、负担和危险区域(RZs)的国家级数据。

本研究根据系统综述和meta分析(PRISMA)的首选报告项目的建议，通过对1980年至2015年发表的数据进行meta分析，以确定尼日利亚儿童感染的流行、分布和RZs。采用随机效应模型决定混合流行估计(PPE)，并使用Cochran s q检验来评估异质性。

在本研究期间，对19个尼日利亚州的34518名0-17岁的儿童进行了调查，其中有18901人感染了一种或多种类型的STHs。感染的总PPE为54.8% (95% CI: 54.2, 55.3)。亚组的PPEs介于13.2% (95% CI: 11.5, 15.1)和80.9% (95% CI: 80.0, 81.7)之间。在社区中，儿童的感染率 (59.0%，95% CI: 57.7, 60.4)和学龄儿童(54.9%，95% CI: 54.3, 55.5) 最高。蛔虫是最普遍的感染虫种(44.6%，95% CI: 44.0, 45.2)。超过36%(15/41)的研究来源于尼日利亚西南部。西南地区是STHs传播的唯一高危险区(HRZ)，而其它地区为低危险区(LRZs)。

在尼日利亚，包括蛔虫、大叶虫、三叶虫和钩虫感染的STH均流行较高。基于这一流行病学信息，进而战略性地使用驱虫剂、健康教育和适当的卫生设施将有助于在该地区控制这些感染。
