自爆发新冠以来，在养老院等长期护理人群死亡比例较高。尽管如此，该人群并没有被纳入COVID-19疫苗的临床试验中，而且该人群注射后的疫苗有效性数据有限，这些人群通常比普通人群年龄更大，体弱多病且具有更多的潜在医疗状况。

近日，由耶鲁大学公共卫生学院领导的研究小组发现，在养老院等长期护理人群中，COVID-19疫苗的有效性非常显著，这一结果被认为是首次关于COVID-19疫苗在接受长期护理的人群中的发现。研究结果发表在MMWR杂志上。

对于这项研究，自疫情发生初期，康涅狄格州就与耶鲁公共卫生学院等合作，在康涅狄格州所有养老院进行强化监测。研究人员考察了Pfizer-BioNTech疫苗在康涅狄格州两家发生COVID-19疫情的养老院的463名居民进行的 "真实世界 "有效性的探索。

研究人员发现，接种疫苗第一剂后，疫苗有效性约为63%。这与单剂COVID-19疫苗在非集体环境下对不同年龄组的成人的有效性相似，而且若完整的两剂疫苗接种可为养老院中体弱多病的人群提供显著的保护作用。

研究人员表示，Pfizer-BioNTech疫苗在最危险和高度脆弱的群体中非常有效，并有可能挽救许多生命。”
