长非编码RNA疗法治疗肺癌

生物化学和细胞生物学教授Chandrasekhar Kanduri领导的研究小组研究了长非编码RNA如何影响肿瘤发育,这些长非编码RNA是从先前被分类为垃圾DNA的基因组部分产生的,但现在已被证明可以调节细胞周期,这在肿瘤细胞中起关键作用。研究人员研究了16种不同的癌症类型,其中包括6,419例实体瘤和701例正常组织样本,这些样本被用作对照。该研究证明了长非编码RNA分子在遗传物质被复制的细胞分裂阶段是活跃的。

研究人员利用内部开发的技术和现代RNA测序技术,根据癌症类型的不同,鉴定出了570种非编码RNA分子,可用于预测和治疗14种类型的癌症。预计这一结果将对世界许多地区的癌症研究具有指导意义。
