对于房颤患者，女性一直一个不一致的缺血性卒中危险因素，本研究的假说是缺血性卒中危险因素在女性中随着年龄变化而变化。本研究回顾分析了台湾健康数据库中2001-2013年新发的房颤患者，主要终点事件是随访期间缺血性卒中的发生。根据倾向性评分匹配，最终共纳入分析了59583名男性患者（平均年龄为73.5±13.7岁）和59583名女性患者（平均年龄为 73.4±13.8岁）。与男性患者相比，女性患者缺血

研究结果显示，对于房颤患者，女性/男性缺血性卒中风险比随着年龄变化而变化，只有在年龄＞75岁人群中女性的风险才更大。
