“超级细菌”MRSA为何如此耐药?基因突变有助于MRSA对抗生素高度耐药

近日,一项在《PLoS Pathogens》上发表的研究表明,耐甲氧西林金黃色葡萄球菌(MRSA)的基因突变使细菌对抗生素具有高度耐药性,而又不降低细菌的致病能力。MRSA对几乎所有青霉素类抗生素具有抗药性,包括甲氧西林(Methicillin)及其他抗β内酰胺酶的青霉素。MRSA首次发现于1961年的英国,现时已广泛散播,被称为“超级细菌”。

青霉素和甲氧西林等抗生素无法与MRSA中MecA基因编码的蛋白很好地结合,这意味着它们无法“杀死”细菌。这项研究的下一个阶段是了解这种蛋白质如何与细菌中的其他因子一起发挥作用,以实现更高水平的抗生素耐药性。该研究将帮助研究人员开发针对MRSA的新药。

该研究的首席研究员Simon Foster表示:“七十多年来,抗生素一直是人类医疗保健的支柱,但如今,耐药性超级细菌的出现已成为全球性的灾难。为了与耐药性微生物抗争,我们必须了解它们。我们的工作揭示了细菌耐药的复杂机制”。
